Silicone Gel Implants Approved for First-Time Breast Augmentation in the U.S.

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

By Sara Goldstein The Food and Drug Administration has approved both Mentor and McGhan brand silicone gel breast implants for primary (first-time) breast augmentation. Effective immediately Until Friday, November 17, 2006 breast augmentation with silicone gel breast implants was an option in the United States for only breast reconstruction patients and a few other women for whom saline augmentation was not a good option. The FDA now has approved silicone implants for all women over 22 years old. Dr. Hartog, at the Bougainvillea Clinique in Orlando, FL, has been a participant in ongoing silicone gel studies for the last 10 years, and is approved to begin silicone gel breast augmentation for first time breast augmentation patients, effective immediately. Full array of options Options now available to all women over 22 years of age include both silicone gel and saline implants, adjustable implants, and three placement choices: subglandular, submuscular or dual plane placement. There are four incision approaches: 1. Inframammary (under the breast) 2. Areola (below the nipple) 3. Transaxillary (armpit) 4. The TUBA (belly button) procedures It should be noted that silicone implants are not approved for placement through the TUBA incision. Many women have shown an interest in the newer gummy bear or cohesive gel implants. Both Mentor Memory Gel and McGhan Cohesive Gel implants are similar in this respect. Silicone gel implants are available in a variety of shapes ranging from low to moderate to high profile, either round or anatomical, as well as with either a textured surface or a smooth surface. Changing from saline to silicone For those individuals who already have saline breast implants, and who want to change to silicone implants, this is now an option. The Bougainvillea Clinique in Orlando, Florida, is offering reduced fees for women who wish to exchange their saline implants for silicone implants. In some instances this could even be done under local anesthetic, which makes for an easier preparation and recovery, as well as cost savings. Advantages of silicone gel implants Silicone gel implants have a more natural look and feel, they have less tendency towards rippling which can be felt or seen, and they weigh slightly less for each given size than saline implants. Call the Bougainvillea Clinique in Orlando, Florida at 407-678-3116 or email them today for a complimentary consultation to discuss the breast augmentation options now available to you. Hairstyles for Short Hair Lengths

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

By Sarah Freeland Short hair styles are flattering on lots of people. Short haircuts range from buzz cuts to bob haircuts. To select the short cut that is right for you, you will need to look at several options before selecting a style that you like. The first step to selecting a short hair style is to look through magazines and hair cut books. You will want to look for a model or actress that has a face shape that is similar to yours. This will help you to decide if their short hair cut will look good on you. The next step is to talk to your hairstylist to get their opinion on what short cuts will work best with your bone structure. They may be able to steer you clear of haircut disasters. They may also have software that can modify your picture to show you what you would actually look like with a specific haircut. After selecting a style of hair cut that you want you will also need to decide how short you want to go. Very short haircuts are great if you dont have a lot of time to fuss with your hair in the morning, however, if you are used to longer hair a very short haircut may be too much of a change to handle. If you dont want to go ultra short you can select from a number of short trendy hairstyles. These hairstyles are usually introduced or made popular by celebrities and fashion icons. Weight Loss Motivation

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

By Craig Ballantyne In order to succeed and lose fat, you need to keep your motivation and commitment to your weight loss program. There are some tips and tricks to help you. First, focus on what has worked in the past for you. If you know you can stick to a walking program, start there and then try to add in new stuff like strength training. Don’t signup for a gym if you know you hate it. Then, stay positive knowing that you are using what works for you - and look at the extra strength training as a bonus. Don’t let any negativity creep into your mind. Keep that picture of success in your mind at all times. With a positive attitude, you’ll be more open to trying new exercise methods and nutritious foods. Second, write down your goals and re-visit them everyday. Keep them in mind all the time, and you’ll choose activities that take you closer to your goals rather than away from them. Be specific and realistic with your goals, and keep them framed in a positive light. Visualize reaching those goals, and visualize a reward you can have for reaching the goals. Again, these are all powerful, positive images. Third, get a group involved as your social support. Get as many people as possible supporting you, and hang around only the positive people. Negative people will only get in your way and bring you down. So at work, only eat with the people that respect your goals, or better yet, want to reach the same goals. Same with exercise. In fact, research has shown that you will succeed if your workout partner succeeds. So get that group together and stay positive. Just Too Happy For Words

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

By David Gomm The other day a client came to pick up a window we built for her. She took one look at it and broke into tears. Yes, it really was that beautiful, a real knockout of design. Most people don’t burst into tears over the beauty of their window, that comes later on an overcast day, when they are in a mood and they walk in to see those vibrant colors that somehow draw emotion out of you, forcing you to pay attention. Stained glass art does that, it draws out emotions, demands recognition. There was a painting that some friends of mine owned. It was a macro-realistic painting of strawberries with a drop of water on one of the leaves and it was so perfect and so big, it took me away. It made me feel that I was a fraud, that my art meant nothing compared to this perfect still-life. It didn’t actually make me weep to view that beauty, but it did bring me to the brink of tears (it’s a guy thing, I guess). I feel sorry for those who never develop a sensitivity to art work. Like the fellow in Missouri who asked what you did with that there stained glass when you were done with it. I carefully explained that we put it in the window and enjoyed the way it looked. He nodded his head for a long time and then said, “But you can’t see through it.” He was right, you often can’t see through a piece of stained glass, but, Oh the joy of looking at it, instead of through it. The Father of the client picking up the window really tried to understand his daughters connection to the piece of glass. “You really like that, don’t you? Can you tell me what it is about it that you like? She answered and he still kept asking, not understanding the beauty that she beheld. I’m glad to be one of those who gets it when viewing a piece of glass, and a great painting, a good view and a great sunset. Maybe I need to find common ground with guys who dont get glass, Im sure they swell with pride when they look at their dog or maybe their new truck…. David Gomm started building stained glass windows professionally back in 1983 and has become an expert at many aspects of stained glass building, design and repair. He writes a monthly newsletter at his better stained glass website. Is Your Job Search Guided by the “Controller” or the “Controllee?”

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Marilyn Tellez I’ll define what I mean by these terms.”The Controller” is a job seeker that is ruled by doing everything right. He/shehas read all of the appropriate books, done a good job composing a resume, but is still unemployed. “The Controllee” has also read all of thebest books about the job search, hasa credible resume, but is still without work. What can each of them do to make theirjob search campaign: WORK. The person who is controlling what theythink is a good campaign is not stoppingto: Polish and have great inter-personalskills; doesn’t send a thank you note anddoesn’t ask for the job. The person who is being controlled by the process needs to assess their campaign and see what they are leaving out. Is their networking going well,is their sufficient follow-up? Is there roommade for the unexpected and spontaneous?(Flaws that the controlling person needs tobe aware of too.) These are my remedies. Plan, plan, plan,follow-up, send out thank you cards, give asmuch as you take; and look at most rejectionswith a bag of salt. By all means have somefun with the whole danged search!Flexible people get most jobs. c, 2004 Marilyn J.
