Love Lessons for Ladies: Resist Your Urge to Pursue

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Ronnie Ann Ryan More Equality Than Ever Today, there is more equality than ever between the sexes in the work place. Even many marriages have become more like a partnership, with both parties sharing the chores, child-rearing and bringing home the bacon. Unfortunately, the single world is lagging far behind. Dating is still an archaic mating ritual that has simply not caught up. So if dating is still in the dark ages what does that mean for women today? The fact is, theres a strong downside to women taking over the pursuit during the initial courtship. Okay, okay, let me explain. A Man’s Perspective Heres a perfect example provided by my client Jim, who called to tell me he was kind of seeing someone. I asked what that meant and his answer fascinated me. Jim ran into a woman acquaintance he knew from business networking. One thing led to another and Carol suggested that she cook a nice dinner Friday night. Jim went to dinner and then was invited to a second home-cooked dinner as well. Sounds great right? Not exactly. Jim explained that although the food and company were good, every candle in the place was burning and the romance was turned up a few notches too high. After dinner, Carol built a fire and they sat on the couch drinking wine. Not a Real Date Jim felt perplexed because his date handled everything and there was no way for him to contribute. When asked how he felt about the situation, he said hed prefer to call, ask her out, and take her on a real date. Yikes, in Jims mind, these werent even real dates! What happened here? Lets dissect this situation to gain a better understanding of what went wrong. First, Carol took the lead when she asked Jim out. She probably wanted to lure him in through the age-old strategy, The way to a mans heart is through his stomach. But a home-cooked meal is more natural later in the dating process when the foundation for intimacy has been established and this is something that cannot be rushed. Men Dont Like Being “Wooed” Unfortunately, Carols plan backfired, because most men dont respond well to being wooed. Even those men who claim to like aggressive females and have dated women who asked them out, admitted they usually got a second date by turning the tables and asking her out. In other words they decided seeing the woman was a good idea and took over the pursuit. Carol was probably wondering what the heck happened. Can you imagine her saying, We had such a nice time. I cooked a fabulous dinner and we talked for hours drinking wine in front of a roaring fire. It was so romantic and he didnt have to lift a finger! What more could he want? Curious and Flattered, But Not his Idea Heres one answer Jim wants it to be HIS idea. Men prefer the role of pursuer and this is eons of biological history to fight against. Even though Jim accepted Carols invitations, he wasnt invested in her agenda. Was he curious and flattered? Sure, but that didnt create any intention on Jims part to pursue her on his own volition. Many women insist that some men are shy and need a little prodding. This is not true at all and even shy men know how to go after something or someone they want. Most men enjoy the chase and theres no chase if the woman does all the pursuing. Hes Not the One for You So give men a chance to win you over. And ladies, if the man youre interested in doesnt ask you out, hes not the one for you. He might like flirting or enjoy banter, but hes not genuinely interested. Move on to find a man wholl step up to the plate and ask you out. When its his idea, hes more invested. As a woman, thats what you want! Find a Man Who Will Step Up to the Plate Instead of taking charge, rely on your feminine charm. Sit back and allow a man to take the lead during the initial courtship. Observe what he does to please and win you over. Thats how you can tell if hes interested and not just curious or flattered by your advances. Think of the start of a new relationship like dancing a waltz the woman follows the mans lead to enjoy floating around the room together, hopefully without stepping on his toes. Top Ten Guidelines For Working With Executive Recruiters

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Jeannette Kraar 1. Select the right type of recruitment partner Determine whether you would be best served by a retained, contingency, contract or research based partner at a global, national or local level. 2. Interview recruiters to find the appropriate fit Effective partnerships are built on mutual interests, opportunities, values and performance. 3. Treat an interview with a recruiter with the same care and professionalism as a job interview You never get a second chance to make a first impression. 4. Develop an exclusive relationship with your recruiter More is not better. Being presented for an opportunity by more then one firm can get you knocked out of consideration. 5. Have well developed job search criteria Know what you want in a new position and be able to clearly articulate your interests and needs. 6. Understand who the real client is Youre the solution not the client. The real client is the company that has engaged the recruiter. 7. Do not pay for services The employer has the responsibility for paying the recruiters fee, not you. Do not agree to payment for services. 8. Establish strong communication Open, honest communication and feedback is key. Look for compatibility in work-style, personality and values. 9. Be your professional best A recruiter may help you get in the door, but only you can win the job. 10. Actively pursue all other methods of job search while working with a recruiter. Take a pro-active approach to your career transition with on-going use of networking activities, referrals, job postings, research and interviews throughout the duration of your search. Choosing the Best Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyer

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

By Dave Hoffman If you’re in need of a personal injury lawyer, it means that you’ve already experienced something terrible - either you or your loved one has been hurt. This doesn’t change throughout the USA, and so it is true also for Atlanta - a personal injury lawyer is hired only by people who have already experienced a kind of psychological earthquake. The point is that in such stressful situation you simply have to choose the best one. Not an Atlanta personal injury lawyer, but THE Atlanta personal injury lawyer. You must avoid all possible problems you can have with a lawyer (you probably have enough of your own ones) and this means you have to choose the best lawyer you can find. How to tell which personal injury lawyer is the best The main problem in finding a good attorney in Atlanta is personal injury lawyer’s abundance. There are simple too many lawyers in this city to check all of them personally. Fortunately we have the Internet, so you should start from sifting them through your search engine. Simply type “Atlanta personal injury lawyer” and choose first ten sites you’ll see. The other law companies are probably either too small or not diligent enough to build the proper website for themselves. Then have a good look at the site you found. Reject those with too much apparent “search engine-oriented” content - long articles about nothing mean only that the lawyer is witty, but not intelligent. After that you should have only four or five possibilities left. The number is low enough to visit the lawyers personally. During the visit watch them carefully - you don’t want professional optimists, there are lots of them in Atlanta. Personal injury lawyer you look for should be serious, down-to-earth and not too open. You need the lawyer for the court, not for friendship. The most common problems There are many possible problems, but they have only one source - dishonesty. I don’t mean the situation when your lawyer is telling you white lies. I think of the situations when he will keep telling you “everything is going to be all right” whatever the situation will be. There are plenty of such attorneys in Atlanta. A personal injury lawyer that will tell you “I am not sure if can win” is a rare bird indeed, but the most precious one, too. Video Phones That You Might Like

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Victor_Epand]Victor Epand When you are recording video to the SLVR, are you specifying that it be stored to the removable SD card? This card contains 512Mbps of memory. The default setting for recording may be to phone’s memory, which is only 9Mbps and already contains things such as addresses and other information loaded into it already. Like with the address book, where you can specify to store to the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory (on GSM phones), the video storage location can be specified as well. I was unable to locate the SLVR manual on-line, but if you still have the manual, I would suggest looking under video and checking to see how to change the location of the video storage. You want to make sure that you set it to save to the SD card so that you have more storage and so that it can be removed from the phone. Are you saying that the video is set to record to the SD card or that everything is set to save to the SD card? If everything is set to save there, then it is most likely full, or only has room for 50 seconds of video. Have you viewed the available space on the SD card? If there is room on the card, you should be able to record more than 50 seconds. Have you checked the manual to see if there is also a setting on the maximum record time? My thoughts without looking at the manual, is that there may be a maximum time allowed so that the video does not take up all the space and therefore not allow anything else to be saved. The SD card in the SLVR is mainly for I-Tunes versus video and I’m thinking that there may be a setting that limits the video time. Currently, there are 28 phones that Cingular is selling that have the ability to take videos. The length of the video is dependent upon memory, so if you want to take a video of more than a couple of seconds, you are going to want a camera phone with a memory card (either that comes with it or that you add to it). One example is the Sony Ericcson W300i (there are also some other Sony Ericcson phones). This phone has 20MB of memory and also has a slot for a 512MB stick to record even more. When you go to any cell phone web site, look at the different phones and choose the link for “View Details”. This will tell you if the phone has video capabilities. Most of the cell phone web sites will tell you straight off that it has video or not all you would have to do is just read what they have on the phone and you will get the answers to what you want to know. If you don’t like this kind of phone you could always look on a different web page or just go through and see which one that you do like. Compensation Plans Of Network Marketing: Types

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By Alexander Gordon Understanding the types of network marketing compensation can be slightly difficult. There are many types of plans, and choosing the best one is not easy. Different network marketing companies go for different plans, complicating the issue further. Generally, the compensation plan depends on the volume of the sales you make. This article discusses various types of network marketing compensation plans and how to choose the best plans. Types of Network Marketing Compensation Plans: 1) Binary The Binary Network Marketing Compensation Plan has two branches, each in a different business. The aim of this compensation plan is to ensure that each branch sells some minimum volume. If there is one branch that sells a lot, while the other fails to take off, then you will lose a percentage of your compensation. 2) Stair step The stair step compensation plan is where most Network Marketing distributors start. You are promoted each month depending on the volume of sales. 3) Breakaway Once your Network Marketing business reaches a certain level, a part of it can break away and become an independent business. Though many distributors feel they are losing what they worked so hard on, the breakaway compensation plan has its merits. 4) Matrix A computer program assigns a member of the group he or she must work with. It decides the position that the member can be assigned to. Of course, if you think that the person is more suited for another position, and then you can overrule the computers decision. 5) Uni-level The Uni-level plan involves no promotion. The company pays you a standard amount once you have made the minimum volume of sales agreed on. Parts of Network Marketing Business: Depending on the areas of the Network Marketing business where you will be paid, the compensation plan is divided among the business. Some of these parts are discussed below. 1) Retail Profit The compensation plan for the retail profit area generally includes 50% of the package. 2) Representatives If you are able to make a successful team of company representatives, it generally translates into some kind of benefits package for you. 3) Leadership Bonus If you can train successful team leaders who can help the company by expanding its affiliate business and boosting sales, then the company rewards you in some way. 4) Other Rewards If you are highly successful in your business, the company may give you a bonus, a free holiday trip or some such reward to show its appreciation to you. This does not generally count as a predetermined compensation plan, but is a pleasant surprise for most distributors. If you have any other questions regarding the network marketing compensation plan, you can approach small business consultants for help. Choosing the right network marketing compensation plan is the first step towards a highly successful business. Dating After 40: 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover? 4 Ways NOT to Leave Your Suitor

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

By R.L. Morgan If you know it isnt a good match, you owe it to him to tell him and then either move on or become friends. But do so graciously, respectfully and gracefully, no matter what. Here are four ways NOT to let him know. * Via email if youve dated him more than a few times, have the guts to tell him that you arent going to see him again in person, or if thats not possible by phone. I had a lover break up with me via an email after wed dated exclusively for 7 weeks. He said he was too cowardly to do it in person! It was disrespectful and hurtful to not do it in person when wed just seen each other the day before. * After only a few minutes After 10 minutes one guy told me that he wasnt attracted to me so he was leaving. On one hand, good that he didnt waste either of our time. But he could have been more graceful than saying Im not attracted. How uncouth! * Yahoo messangerBy IM This is the modern version of the Sex and The City Berger break-up Post-It to Carrie. Tacky. A guy I had been dating for 6 weeks sent me an Instant Message breaking up with me when he knew I wouldnt be around to read it until later. Essentially, it is as classless and spineless as an email. * AWOL Not returning emails or voice mails. Ive had two guys do this, one Id dated for 6 weeks. After talking 5 or 6 times a day for 6 weeks, he suddenly didnt respond to any emails, IMs or voice mails. Hed left some clothes at my house that I wanted to return to him after I didnt hear back for a few days, and he still didnt respond. I left them on his front porch, as there was not much else I could do. Have the courage and decency to be gently honest when you release this person back into the dating pool. You will feel better about yourself, and youll leave him not hating you. R.L.
